In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, director Wayne Che Yip made the following comment:
"Tonally, we wanted to reflect the main story points of good and evil. One of the ideas is, how far into the darkness are you willing to go to do the right thing?"
No. Just...no.
That is the antithesis of Tolkien. That using evil to defeat evil only accomplishes replacing one Dark Lord with another is, if anything, the central theme of his writings.
I fear this show will be every bit as disappointing as TWOT.
‘Lord of the Rings,’ ‘The Hobbit’ Film, Merchandise, Theme Park and Gaming Rights Sold to Video Games Company Embracer for an Undisclosed amount. (Estimates last year was thinking these various rights were worth roughly 2 billion)
Amazon still owns its rights. Warner Brothers had an animation thing in production and there is a legal debate if this is enough to qualify for rights.
What is IP may never die, but remakes again, stronger and grittier.
