The entire impeachment process was a farce. If the impeachment was because Trump "illegally withheld" aid to Ukraine on the basis of his demand for an investigation into the Bidens' connection with Burisma (something that, with each passing day, sounds more and more rational), then Biden should have been impeached as VP when he illegally withheld aid to Ukraine until they fired a prosecutor investigating his son's company.

If the impeachment is because his actions were "politically motivated" then we need to impeach Liz Warren, Cory Booker, Bernie Sanders and Amy Klobuchar at least because at the time they voted to remove Trump from office they were running against him for President and their vote was politically motivated.

The entire "the law for thee but not for me" nature of the proceedings was astounding. The entire farce rested on the premise that Trump could never have any legitimate reason for investigating the Bidens' business dealings. However, even after Trump, the revelations keep coming out about how dirty they are.

As for January 6, indicting Trump will lead down a road to ruin because it will mean that every future President will be open to politically motivated attacks after leaving office. There is no political weapon employed since 2000 that has not seen general and widespread application once employed - think about recounts pre- and post-2000, the judicial filibuster, impeachment, special prosecutors, judicial injunctions of laws and statutes as the result of forum shopping for Federal judges, etc.
