Not really. I'm just realizing the Republicans have reached such a stage of unreason that all you need to gut them is do half measures that everyone thinks is reasonable, and watch as they block that too. It's more tactical than anything.
Left to myself, I'd make gaining citizenship and voting rights in the US an automated thing with a fixed timeframe for certain conditions to be met, after which you're good to request citizenship. Pass whatever backgrounds checks needed and you're done.
All of which I'm sure sounds too extreme, and will continue to if that's what we push for. So you show the suckers some rope to hang themselves. At this point, they're so reactionarily anti-anything a Dem signs on to that you can make them repeatedly shoot themselves in the crotch. I'd enjoy that, is all

So let's say this law, by some miracle, makes it to the floor of the House and Senate. Can you honestly tell me which party you think will vote for it in higher numbers?
