Texas Republican Congressman Tony Gonzalez stated this morning that Ramos was arrested as a juvenile for claiming that he was going to shoot up a school when he turned 18.
If true, it is an absolute disgrace that this individual was not placed on a watchlist to prevent him from legally purchasing guns. I understand juvenile records are typically sealed once one reaches legal adulthood but something like this should be an exception if it isn't already. If he was on a watchlist - I am not familiar with Texas law, such as it is - then someone needs to be held accountable.
The most rabid gun nut can't defend selling even one gun to a person who has threatened violence as soon as he can obtain one. There is no justification for this.
