I'm expecting that Season 2 will open with the death of Lews Therin/creation of Dragonmount and then go on to have Moiraine explain that Rand broke the seal by means of [reasons].
As for "why not Logain," maybe in the show Only The Dragon Can Break The First Seal. Or maybe Rand is just a lot stronger than Logain already. Both of which would be... stupid, admittedly.
