Isn't that similar? I'm enjoying watching how various people lose their preconceived infatuation with the series at different places and for different reasons (nosewart would be high on my list). There are different sorts of bad, too. There is, for example, Mamma Mia, which is a terrible movie with terrible acting and even worse singing, based on a plot written by a brain damaged bonobo or perhaps a large sea sponge. But then there is stuff like Ed Wood movies, where it's so bad it's funny. I can see this series being the latter. Hell, if they kill off characters everyone hates, like Faile, then they just might be endearing in a way.
My motivation in reading the comments isn't to enjoy something because it is so bad. I honestly wanted to know how things were progressing. They're not progressing well, I see. Though, honestly, there might be a bit of schadenfreude in it. I did read with great satisfaction that even Damookster has judged this show to be so bad that he isn't enjoying the hate watching so much.
I also read the comments want to know if anything is good. I love this series of books, whatever their overall flaws. It would be great to at least see something of them in this show, even for a moment. Such as, I somehow allowed myself to be tricked by someone here who said that they did Tar Valon well. WTF? Tar Valon was awful. Tar Valon in the books is a place created by magic that cannot be recreated in the show's contemporary world. But as someone else has said, Tar Valon in the show could be made by anyone in this world who had sufficient time and resources. The look of Tar Valon in the show would be more fitting for Caemlyn, as that is a place created merely by wealth, skill, and time. But, not Tar Valon as whole or the supposed-to-be-astounding White Tower. Hell, they couldn't even get the bridges right. Those bridges are a magical creation in the books. Not in this show, though. They're just another construction project that could be a city in any sword'n'sorcery show.
The creators of this show understand NOTHING of what makes the world created by Jordan beloved by millions of fans. They've taken a few of the elements, infused them with something from the LOTR movies for visuals and added a pinch of GOT to the mix and created a shit cake for all to enjoy.
So, no, my motivation isn't to watch or comment on something that is so bad it's good or to hate watch something. They have pissed on something I love and I despise them for it.
As for the greater concept of something, such as Ed Wood's creations, that are so bad they're funny. I understand the concept. Greg and I once watched a movie about some gays doing something (I don't recal what) that was supposed to be a serious movie. But at one point, the melodrama was so bad and campy, Greg and I just burst out laughing. I'm glad I wasn't in the theater with the other fags and fag hags who were probably weeping at the scene. You don't want to get the crowd riled up unless you have a clear path to the exits!
So, I get THAT, I just don't want to watch hours of dreck for a few moments of funny. I want to watch a funny movie and be entertained throughout. And I can't understand someone who makes that choice. I'm not judging you for it. I just don't understand it.
Take for instance, the concept of women who want to have anal sex. I don't understand it. Why would you want to get dick in a place full of shit that hurts or is uncomfortable (at least at first) to get fucked, when you have a perfect cock receptacle already there in the front that is self-lubing? I don't judge them. I love cock, too. I just don't understand what their motivation is in this instance.
Which, stream-of-consciousness style, has led me to a great point: why are some of you enjoying in any way the producers of this dreck fucking you up the ass with their tiny, semi-flaccid cocks? Why?!
