One of the most oft debated and fiercely contested points of discussion on WOT message boards over the years has been "what exactly happened to Kerene Nagashi's warder Stepin when Kerene was killed?" In a classic Jordan style mystery, after mentioning Stepin once in New Spring, Jordan didn't spell out exactly what happened to him upon Kerene's death. Since then, WOT theorists have passionately argued the various possibilities. The most prominent positions are so well known that I won't bother going over them again here.
In episode 5 of the TV series, show runner Rafe Judkins finally gives fans what they have been clamoring for: a resolution to the Stepin plotline. Anonymous sources have indicated that in Jordan's dying hours he whispered to his wife Harriet the details of Stepin's fate. Harriet passed these details on to Judkins who has brilliantly brought them to life in episode 5.
Spoiler alert: Do not continue scrolling if you haven't seen episode 5.

Stepin killed himself after revealing his daddy issues to some other warders.
Critics may argue that it is an unconscionable use of limited screen time to devote practically an hour to a less than minor character from a prequel at the expense of developing the main characters and hitting beloved plot points from the books. However, the vast majority of hardcore book fans will understand and even love the choice to finally give Stepin's character what he has deserved all along.
