Or also somewhat disturbing.
Michael Imperioli and Steve Schirripa have cowritten a new book about the show titled, Woke Up This Morning with stories and anecdotes from when the show was still on the air. The New York Post has published a few excerpts. Here's one of them.
Jim Gandolfini got a call in the middle of the night on his personal cell phone from an unknown number. He answers the phone, "Hello," and the guy on the other line says, "Hello," and then silence.
The caller doesn’t identify himself. He finally says, "Listen, you’re a great actor, we like what you’re doing, but you got to know one thing: A Don never wears shorts."
Unsurprisingly, Gandolfini found this somewhat disconcerting.
Also unsurprisingly, David Chase incorporated that line into a scene from the Season 4 premiere episode.
