Now that the series is finished, we know powering up some of the characters wouldn’t make a whole lot of difference to the story. Nothing major changes if Moiraine and Siuan actually stand just below the Forsaken (like Egwene and co do in the books), Egwene, Elayne and Aviendha move up to mid-tier Forsaken strength, with Logain, and Rand and Nynaeve sit at the very top. Nynaeve’s interactions with Sharina and Alivia are so minimal, and her insecurity about Alivia so unlikely to make it to screen, that I think. having her be as strong as Lanfear wouldn’t change a thing.
RJ wrote a very extensive set of levels because he had hundreds of characters to trackm and wanted this to be shading their interactions.
We won’t really get that in the show. The strength levels that matter are:
- The strongest Forsaken, and the strongest heroes
- Mid tier Forsaken and the slightly weaker heroes
- Just below Forsaken to very strong Aes Sedai who command a lot of respect and power (this spans Cadsuane to Sheriam, I’d say)
- Strong Aes Sedai- spanning Verin/Alviarin to Anaiya- these will likely be most of the named Aes Sedai
- Medium Aes Sedai- a fairly broad span of mostly going to be nameless for the show Aes Sedai
- Weak Aes Sedai- where Leane and Siuan will sit after they’re stilled and Healed
- Too weak to be Aes Sedai: for the Morgases and Sorileas of the world.
This is really all they need. The slow rise in power of the women should account for all the rest of what we see.
