I enjoyed what I saw of West Wing, and at times there could see various pressures being applied forcing the characters into 'strong' action like airstrikes, which feels like could echo real life, and how much the likes of the presidents are pressured into taking action.
...but I did watch House of Cards, which sounds like it ran on similar themes: pressures within the Party or between the Parties; unfulfilled campaign promises rearing their heads; secret campaign promises you must keep to those who helped you get where you are; avoiding media embarrassment; relying on generals, experts, who knows who, for decisions that will lead to men dying, one way or another...
...that and hiding the bodies along the way... though that might have been unique to House of Cards... and maybe the Clintons...
