Honestly no.
Well I really don't see how, but you're entitled to your opinion.
Because it’s so obviously more complex and bigger than Trump could ever wish. And that guy could probably wish for his name etched on the moon.
Of course it's bigger than Trump. But all of these problems are accelerating as they are because of Trump's actions. Is it Donald Trump's fault that social media companies have a liberal bias and regularly choose to display party prejudice? No!
But is it Donald Trump's fault that now they're openly doing so, and banning people who so much as like these now-anathema groups? Yes!
I’m not going to dispute this, though I don’t agree with your opinion on this completely. It’s true enough, in any case.
I agree with you that Trump played his part in all of this. I think we would disagree on the intentions and the goals of his, and in truth, we can only infer these anyway. Either way, there’s no doubt he was antagonistic, bombastic, and aggressive.
Surprisingly, I don't think we would disagree with his intentions or goals. I think he thought it was one of his typical rallies, and he went out there and said the sort of stupid shit his mind typically says during a rally. The problem, however, is it was not a rally, it was a protest down the street from the Capitol.
Which he encouraged the mob to go to.
However it was just that: a part. And a small part by my estimation, as I detailed in the original post.
A lit match may be the smallest part of an arsonist's work, but that makes it no less responsible for what happens afterward.
I do hope you are being hyperbolic. First, Trump didn’t really get muzzled at all, it was everybody else. So, do you believe that because they couldn’t censor Trump, these tech platforms decided to... take it out on everybody else?
I'm not being hyperbolic. You're exactly right it's not Trump that's being muzzled, because the more he talks, the more excuses they are getting to silence anyone who disagrees with their bias, so they are happy to let him slowly get banned by these social networks one-by-one, because then they can purge his supporters too.
I personally don’t believe that there is a peaceful way to accomplish anything anymore. We have a one-party system that is addicted to monetary stimulus and bows to corporate and military interests that prefers their subjects divided and dependent. Anything that works counter to these interests is treated with ridicule and suppression.
I don't either, but dragging out and executing Congress was never going to be bloodless. Now, however, anyone who tries it will have to fight through a rapidly-militarizing district, into a heavily-fortified building. What could have been accomplished with ~500 dead and a newly elected Congress will now require a multi-day battle and thousands of casualties.
Thanks a fuckton, Trump.
I follow that rule until it involves too many people to attribute it to. And in the case of the, frankly, outlandish response to Trump in the last four years by the News and Media corporations, Hollywood, Democrats and Republicans alike, the tech companies, and so on, I think we found evil.
Ok, I agree with all of this, but I ask again; what does this have to do with Donald Trump entreating a mob to attack the Capitol?
Well it’s there and it exists. Seriously, just Google “all lives matter,” and you will see reports from major news outlets (CNN, ABC, Vox, etc), making exactly these implications.
Of course it exists, it's existed since Trump was elected. It is not, however, being brought up because of and tied to Trump entreating a mob to attack the Capitol, which is what we're discussing.
You just said it: “Was it as terrible as the media is making it out to be? Maybe not.” You admit there is distortion.
And if you agree with me that there has been distortion from the beginning (we haven’t even talked about Russiagate... TWO WHOLE YEARS!), and this distorted reporting has been building and building... well, I already have granted that he played his part.
Of course there's distortion; once again, I'm not saying media bias and all this other shit is Trump's fault, I'm saying that Trump gave them the perfect excuse for them to take it from a shadow-war into an openly-accepted crackdown of "twrrorists" who just happen to be people they disagree with.
I’m saying that it is all part of the mindset of the people who make up that crowd who participated at the rally. The people who feel that the government overreached in it’s attempt to control the virus are likely the same people who feel that the election was fraudulently won. It’s the same people who follow alternative news or conspiracy news who had their guy banned from YouTube, or Twitter.
The insult of not only hampering the economy perhaps irreparably, but to have it flaunted by the elite class in this “rules for thee but not for me” mentality guaranteed to make this a galvanized issue.
Again, I can agree with this, but as per my usual refrain this message chain, Donald Trump mob Capitol yadda yadda
Let me ask you: do you think that if investigations were allowed to be conducted, and I mean really conducted, that there would even have been a rally that day? Do you think that if the Media had been more even-handed throughout his term, would there have been this zealousness to the supporters of Trump? Do you think that if people were able to air our their grievances without censure, and have their opinions voiced, would there have been a movement at all?
What I think about hypothetical investigations and whether or not their hypothetical investigators would or would not be biased in their hypothetical investigation has no bearing at all on Donald Trump actually entreating an actual mob to attack the actual Capitol.
Sorry, but there is justification for the anger, and this has been building much longer than four years. Trump was not the cause of any of this. He, like so many other things, was a symptom of the problem that we’ve had for over forty years. There is no voice for liberty or peace. We have two parties. One party is pro-war and engages in social programs, and one party is pro-social programs and engages in war.
I apologize, I did not mean to say their anger wasn't justified. What I meant to say is that to go to a crowd of angry people and encouraging them to be even angrier is a stupid, stupid, stupid, or evil, decision. Absolutely, these are American citizens and their voices should be heard. I in no way support the hypocrisy of the left and their willingness to indulge "their" supporters violence, while condemning the "other" supporters. I'm not trying to justify the actions of anyone in our fucked up society; everyone is playing their roll.
And Donald Trump's happened to be entreating a mob to attack the Capitol.
So I really, really don't get why people are still defending him.
