The Mandalorian "rides" (because there's plot reasons why he can't fly his ship) into an off-the-map "mining settlement", where the local law enforcement is played by Timothy Olyphant, and they meet in a bar where they are served drinks by W. Earl Brown (granted, that's not as obvious, because he's made up like those guys with the raisin heads & dreadlock ponytails from Jabba's sail barge, and Olyphant addresses him as "Weequay" which, IIRC was the name of the action figure, though whether it's the species or supposed to be the proper name of the individual, I'm not sure; I assumed the former). In other words, Seth Bullock and Dan Dority from "Deadwood", which was set in the eponymous unofficial mining settlement.
Also, his helmet sucks. You'd think it would include some sort of HUD display with at least rudimentary magnification abilities, but he still has a telescope. It's smaller and more portable than the binocular-looking things Luke used in the original trilogy, but still, I'd think including that feature would be automatic for a futuristic, all-purpose combat helmet with sensors and whatnot. I mean, a clearly much older model features a targeting reticle for the backpack missile that Boba Fett had.
Also, also, Boba Fett didn't die from a random misfire of his jetpack when Han hit it just wrong, that seems to be a feature of the Mandalorian jetpack, because the title dude does it to someone else. Why would you put that sort of thing on a personal jetpack? Why give someone ELSE the ability to trigger it to fire randomly? The best fix I can think up is a rescue feature to help evac a buddy if he's knocked out, or even to help recover the armor itself if you're dead inside, which seems to be a quasi-religious issue for the Mandalorians, but then you'd still want some sort of instant-kill feature to prevent it from being used against you, like happened to Boba Fett.
Oh, and just maybe Boba Fett didn't die? The coloration of a scrap suit of Mandalorian armor found in a Jawa sandcrawler is really close to the old Boba Fett action figure, down to the protruding missile and orange shoulder flaps. And a scarred old dude appears just before the credits, and the credits, listing "In order of appearance" have Temeura Morrison as the final name. I don't know how I feel about that.
...I'd say the telescope being separate from the helmet might just be ceremonial. Another bit or bob for your armor to earn in some trial or another.
Mind, the clone troopers had the same thing, but then, they were trained by a guy that ran round in mandalorian armor. Though the old expanded universe seemed conflicted on whether the Fetts were mandalorians, or wore the stuff as trophies from mandalorians they had killed(by which I mean, the EU had long established they were mandalorians, but GL always hated the idea of them being mandalorians, so under cut it whenever he was directly involved).
