I can go to pretty much any social media site and find that exact view all over the place. I get that it's not espoused by politicians, but that's because they have to be somewhat realistic. To say that view doesn't get much support, however, is flat out wrong.
Well, I can find support for anything on social media.
Pin anyone seriously making the case who isn't an anarchist, however, and they're not going to say let's not have any kind of policing to apprehend criminals, etc. They're doing to talk about splitting police functions, of not having the police respond to mental health situations, of scaling back the militarization of the police, of abolishing qualified immunity. They'll talk about holding funding as a way to direct these changes, at most.
I could be wrong but I was under the impression he was just laughing at the irony of Al Sharpton agreeing with Republicans about a common(!) talking point. I think I can speak for all of us when I say I'm very pleased you don't think defunding the police entirely is a good idea, but yeah, it's absolutely widespread.
Firstly ,there's plenty Al Sharpton and Republicans would agree on. We just take those things for granted, or don't examine them closely enough, is all.
<Quote>Anyways, apparently it's been a rough day around the board today, so I'm trying to be respectful here, but otoh the fact that people are getting mad is good? because it means there's life on the board, so hey, cheers.
Cheers.
