"There are three types of lies. Lies, damned lies, and statistics."
The only time in my life I felt like I had to be continually on the watch for police presence so I didn't get my ass kicked was in the late 60's - early 70's when I had long hair. Because yeah back then kids perceived as hippies often fell down and got injured while in police custody. Did it ever happen to me? No. But the perception was there.
But for black men in particular, that perception has existed unbroken down through today. We are white. Who are we to say their perception is statistically invalid therefore wrong?
How odd that here I am defending the "liberal" POV.
