Whats so funny is that among the left, its absolutely Alt. The group think is absolutely out of control too and people on the left are afraid to speak up. Your dissonance is so palpable, its scary.
I never said my fears make me vote conservative. I am already conservative based on principles. The implication was that people on the left are more likely to vote conservative when seeking stability, law, and order. Do people find it difficult to have a normal conversation with you in real life? I imagine I would find it exhausting. I'm sure you've heard the expressing "Herding Cats".
It is not okay for an officer to kneel on a man's neck until he is dead and then kneel for a few minutes more for good measure. You're a dick for suggesting that conservatives approve of unjustified murders by cops.
If a man beats the !@#$ out of a couple of cops while resisting arrest, steals one of their weapons, runs away while pointing the weapon back at them, they are absolutely justified in protecting themselves. Neutralize the threat. And then come to his aid.
As far as how I view police? I know that they have one of the most stressful jobs a human being can have. They are put in some of the most stressful situations a human can be put in. I know they have to make split second life or death decisions. I understand that they go into EVERY single situation with almost no information about what is going to happen. What possible threats there might be. Can you empathize with how difficult that is? I also understand that I do not want to be considered a threat or escalate any situation while I am around them because I understand the threat they can pose to me if I do that. All of that said? I am not scared to be around police officers because I trust myself not to do something stupid. My rational fears keep me in check and prevent me from doing anything stupid. It is possible to not be scared of the police while having rational fears. It comes down to personal responsibility and trusting yourself.
Weighing the idea of rational vs irrational fear is important especially when considering your interactions with police. If you are going to get angry with police. Hit them. Resist arrest. Take their a weapon. Etc. Etc... I have no sympathy for you if you end up getting shot. The only sympathy I will have is towards your family members that have to endure your huge part missing from their lives. Especially your mother or children. That is the REAL tragedy in my opinion. That your stupid actions got you killed and creates unnecessary suffering for your family. Not to mention the psychological tole on the individual that ended up having to use deadly force to protect himself.
We all know that cops have murdered black men like George Floyd and this is very significant. The rate at which it happens is statistically insignificant.
Now. Coming back to using fear to try and win an election. It is hilarious that you say " I guess you think it's fine to take pride in a political movement that relies on fear to succeed".
I did not say that at all. But now that you bring it up? The whole "black men murdered" thing IS significant. And you and your ilk hyper focus on that while discounting the part that is "statistically insignificant". That is because they are doing precisely what you are claiming the right does. Stirring their base up to fear and anger. That is how they win elections. This is their new strategy ever since they abandoned the working class. And the working class that belongs to the democratic party still is fearful to stand up to the bully tactics which is why we may see another Bradley Effect come November.
The difference between the Alt-Right and the Alt-Left?
The Right Wing stood up to the alt-right which neutered them. The Left panders to the alt-left which further emboldens them especially since they all of a sudden view themselves as mainstream.
