If it's not race, it will be something else. People distinguish between the "familiar" and the "other", whatever that may end up being.
The point is that it's not institutional, or systemic, when individuals are bigots. If the goal is to change bigots, then the only way is achievement and earning their respect. If the goal is to be able to get ahead, stay in school, study, get good grades, get a scholarship to a great university, get a degree and make something. In that respect the barrier isn't racism. Honestly, trying to change someone's mind if the person believes something in 2020 is pretty much a waste of time. People should just focus on doing their own thing and achieving. Losers will always find someone to blame.
On crime, you have to look at similar crimes in the same area with almost identical criminal histories (in terms of priors, etc.) and if you can then show that sentencing varies after removing all those variables, you can argue the sentencing guidelines should be tightened.
So what, exactly, do the protesters want to achieve? Defunding the police? That's effective suicide for the communities already suffering. "Justice"? The police officers who killed Floyd are already arrested and charged with crimes based on their roles in the incident. Seriously, what, precisely? What do they want that is specific and rational?
This whole thing has become a farce. Castrated intellectuals are self-flagellating at a fevered pace right now to virtue signal how much they "get" it by posting moronic things like "decolonize your bookshelf" and similar nonsense. Everyone is crying "racism" as though it's Birth of a Nation all over again. People who know better are excusing violence and looting, and the Left is self-censoring. The rest of America is looking to arm itself, and rightly so.
