A few weeks ago people decided to make some noise at 7:00 pm when the hospital shifts change to show support for people who are really legitimately overworked right now (or rather, who were overworked two weeks ago). It was nice, it made sense, people did it.

Now, though, two weeks later, with the epidemic essentially winding down, the virtue signalers have hijacked the idea. Now they make more noise than ever, with loudspeakers saying, "Thank you essential workers!" Fuck them. First of all, it was about medical workers only, not people who are hauling supplies I have to order remotely to arrive at a weird window between 6 am and 1 pm because everyone else has to do that. They aren't more likely to get sick than anyone else (which, from what I can tell, is about a 4-5% chance of getting sick and a 0.5% mortality rate, but that is mostly old people). Yes, a friend died of coronavirus at an ungodly early age, but she had a ton of health problems that made her vulnerable. Most "essential workers" (this is going to be a new euphemism to push for a $15 minimum wage for totally unskilled labor) don't have massive underlying health problems.

Now Warren Wilhelm III, a/k/a Bill De Blasio, is saying he thinks 2 more months of quarantine are necessary. I can tell you that long before that people will burn down fucking Gracie Mansion, tear him to pieces and piss in the eye sockets where his eyes were. It's bullshit and they need to start opening things up again. Not that anyone will work with unemployment paying extra money...
