It was a fun rousing ending, I think you're right, story could have worked with 2 movies.

'Last Jedi' probably shouldn't have happened and JJ should have directed them all.

So Rise Of Skywalker should have been split in two, with episode 8 ending with the big Kylo-Rey light-sabre fight, and episode 9 covering the events after that perhaps?
