With 'Last Jedi', it was an original take at least. It's true it ran contrary to canon, and what they did with Luke was jarring, but it was original and it had wit.

With 'Rise Of Skywalker', it looks like they've just mashed together as many old themes and characters as they can into a 'box ticking' exercise that's basically a big mess. Basically just a really poor remake of 'Return of The Jedi' I think.

'Force Awakens' was basically an unoriginal remake as well - of 'New Hope' - but that worked,it was fun. I liked the characters . You had humor, you had good characterization.

'Rise Of Skywalker' just moves from one empty meaningless scene to the next, and I didn't care. Characters were just being pushed around from A to B to advance (incoherent) plot-lines - no humor, no charm , no soul.
