I wasn't a big fan of the plot. I agree that their approach to his secret identity is a bit odd and inconsistent, and the rest of it was pretty meh. No doubt it's very topical to have fake news and perception manipulation as a theme in a superhero movie, but the villains' motivations were boring, the execution was confusing and the visuals were good but not to the point of making it all worthwhile.
That said, it was very funny, Tom Holland remains very good in that role, and Zendaya is a nice addition. So hopefully if the next one has a somewhat better plot, it could be great. Preferably without focusing too much on the plot twist of the mid-credits scene, as you said.
