I went in with low expectations and they were mostly met. my 1 word summary would be "meh".
The cast and crew kept calling the ending bittersweet but I don't think it was bitter or sweet, almost everyone lived happily ever after. What was Jon doing at the end? Running away with the free folk? Seems out of character for him since his punishment was to be at the Night's Watch. We spend 8 seasons with him doing whats "right" no matter the cost only for him to abandon the law of the land at the very last second?
I kept holding out hope for a twist at the end which showed Bran had set this whole thing in motion the entire time to become king.
Have the "previously on.." clips show the Mad King screaming "Burn them allllll!" again, then during Tyrion's campaign speech remind everyone that "Robert's Rebllion, all of this, started with the Mad King trying to burn everyone and ended with his daughter doing it, we need real change, blah blah blah" Then after Bran leaves the small council, show him in the garden, his eyes go white, we flash to the Sane King ruling, his eyes also flash white. "Burn them all" Bran whispers, fade to black.
Whatever. It's over and as much as this has been a colossal disappointment of an ending I'll probably still watch whatever spin offs they make because I'm a sucker.
