I think the President will be judged by his results. If he keeps control of the House and Senate he can pass immigration reform, we have tax reform, if he can resolve the "trade wars" in a way that looks like a win and the North Korea denuclearization works, he'll have some really solid accomplishments that will justify putting up with his tone.
If in addition, the Iranian regime collapses and he negotiates some deal with Russia that ends the confrontation without looking like he's caving he'll be golden.
If on top of that he can appoint 1-2 new Supreme Court justices (hopefully one of them replacing Ginsburg), he will be in fact one of the most consequential presidents of the 21st Century.
Of course, I realize this could all go to shit too.
