Never heard of them before, I may have to look 'em up. I appreciate the moment of levity;

Tim Miller is a practitioner of the Dark Arts. Tim Miller has a soul, but sometimes I question whether he does for he plays with Dark Art toys a little too much to my liking

I am going to summarize his resume for he is one of those people who has had like 12 different political jobs in the last 10 years for in some circles of politics. Because I am summarizing I will probably miss a few of his jobs over the last 10 years.

Tim Miller effectively does two different type of Jobs.

Opposition Research and Rapid Response Communications
Tim Miller is one of the 3 founds of America Rising (2013, the other two are Joe Pounder and Matt Rhoades). America is technically a Political Action Committee but you are not going to see much political advertisements unlike other PACs. No America Rising focuses on Opposition Research against the Democrats but it also did Opposition Research on people who worked for the EPA and criticized the EPA. Besides doing Opposition Research you call American Rising whenever you stuck in shit and you need someone to do crisis management / rapid response communications for you made some form of big gaffe.

Tim Miller now works for Definers Public Affairs (2016) which is founded by the other 2 of the 3 founders of American Rising and American Rising and Definers Public Affairs share the same office space but are separate companies for tax / legal reasons. Definer Public Affairs is a group who assembles media clippings of people who hire then, but also does Freedom of Information Act Requests.

Communications
Tim Miller in 2008 was the RNC deputy communications director. (I am going to skip titles to make this simpler) In 2012 he worked in communications for Jon Huntsman Presidential Campaign, and when Romney became the Republican Nominee he worked for Romney. In 2016 Tim Miller was the Comms Director for Jeb Bush.

Miller also in 2016 worked for He was later in charge of Our Principles PAC which was a Republican / Conservative PAC but against Trump.

Tim Miller is personally a never Trumper. So much so that he occasionally writes for Crooked.com (aka the Pod Save America guys) about how best to combat Trump even though Tim Miller is VERY MUCH a Republican. The audio I linked to above is a shorten clip of when he appeared on one of the PSA podcasts Lovett or Leave It. (Jon Lovett is one of the founders of PSA and he wrote speeches for Obama and before that Clinton in 2008, but Lovett had no involvement with either campaign in 2016 instead writting stuff for Hollywood.)

---------------------

I am not sure how I feel about Tim Miller and his politics, but he is very likable but being likable is not the whole thing in politics.

Regardless he is one of the people I follow for I believe you should get news from multiple sources to get a more nuanced point of view but also to get information from different information silos.

(But yeah part of me is not comfortable with Oppo Research even if it does have some legitimate merits it still feels icky to me, personally )

I woke up this morning and CNN was squawking about how awful Trump is, I flipped over to Fox which was saying how awful the Dems are, and I just said fuck it, no more news for me today, because holy shit I could have turned on either channel from 6 months ago and it would have been effectively the same programming.

Well that is your mistake, you should not follow Cable News. They exist in always creating outrage for outrage is one of the forms of saliency and saliency causes you to watch longer so instead of watching 30 mins you may watch an hour or two hours and thus see more commercials.

They are not in the business in informing but instead in the business of continuous media creation for the sake of creating media even if that is not the best use of your time.

Note this same argument is not limited to Cable News but applies to the vast majority of "News Media" for this is life. (Teasing) I blame the Greek Poet Simonides of Keos who wanted to get paid directly for his works of art and information and started this tradition instead of relying on a wealthy patron to provide his livelihood.

I generally try to avoid cable news because it is a literal shit-hole, but then I look at my news feed and it's either Conservatives justifying the awful actions Trump does (like, as a person. I generally agree with most of his policy directions, except seriously, Fuck Scott Pruitt), or Far Right people saying the White Genocide is coming, or Democrats crying because Trump ate at a seafood joint, and those poor fish, or Far Left people saying "All white people are Nazi's!"

So I guess, really, I'm just fucking sick of news.

And it makes me so mad, because I have several (like, 3, I live in Alabama) liberal friends, and I disagree with them in a lot of cases, and vise versa, but like, it doesn't matter. Because people are people. And, for whatever absurd reason, the media as a whole has completely lost that very simple fact; everyone out there is just a person, and if we can't (or refuse...) to talk to them, person to person, we're going to lose sight of that very real fact, and losing that is how Democracy crumbles.

So yeah, I know I'm sitting here ranting, but I guess my point is this; Roland, I very rarely can even read through your posts, I almost never get the point you're trying to make, and I generally write you off. And I'm wrong for doing that. Thank you, seriously, for helping me remember not everyone is constantly squawking. Thank you for helping me remember that it's not all complete bullshit all the time.

Trust me I understand, for sometimes I am the same way. That said I do have some disagreement with what you wrote but that would get on a rant on how to view the universe.

Note when I say a rant to view the universe, I am not saying your way of viewing it is wrong, but it is just a way that I personally find less pleasing

But yeah part of me is like Fuck this All! It is at this time I realize I need to either stop reading the news or make sure my news feed also includes other sources of news, and also things that are just physically pleasing such as Cat and Dog pictures / videos.
