This legislation stipulates that no federal agent can arrest a parent with minor child within one hundred miles of the border or a port entry city. The legislation does not stipulate ICE only. Nor does it stipulate that the parent/child must be an illegal alien. This would be a disaster. Effectively a skilled defense lawyer could use this bill to invalidate the arrest of any felon who has a minor child. Why don’t we just decriminalize illegal border crossings and be done with it? The issues of open borders, as bad as they are, are better than a bill that could potentially exempt from arrest any criminal that happens to be a parent.
