Pushing in strong female characters and politics would have been OK if it fit in with the flow of the story. I mean the same sort of political correctness was promoted in 'The Force Awakens', but at least there it fit in with the story to some extent.
In 'Last Jedi' it was completely gratuitous, running rough-shod over the 'Star Wars' canon and rendering the story incoherent.
