Hannibal Lector would not drink Chianti by choice but might very well drink an Amarone with 15-20 years of bottle age. Perhaps the Dal Forno, the Speri, or the Antonieri. Amarone is also a red wine.
The point in your link is irrelevant. The line as written by Thomas Harris in the novel was fine and if it was a joke about MAO inhibitors, it was he who intended it so. The movie line sucks.
Besides which I have been treated for chronic depression for over 25 years. I am very familiar with any and all treatments used for this and their uses for other conditions. The movie line still sucks.
