Cordelia was one of the few Sunnydale High students I liked or for whom I had any respect

Minus the vampires in her life (who she can't hear), Cordelia is the only one that's half way tolerable to her. And this is because Cordelia says exactly what she is thinking. In the show (and also in real life), it comes across as egotistical and not very tactful.

And yet, I've read analyses of that scene claiming she's shallow. I thought maybe I was the odd man out for thinking it indicated she was direct and honest. She's also a pretty bad liar whenever she is trying to deceive (as opposed to bluffing - she's good at that). Yet, it was plain the show didn't think much of her, and gave her a lot of shit, and believed that her "redemption" came in the first season of Angel. Just about the worst thing she did was make a nasty comment about Willow's clothing in the first season...but when the writers made Willow more confident and empowered and whatnot, they dressed her differently. The show dumps on her for seeing people's clothing as representative of the personality and strength, but uses clothing to show those same characteristics. Tons of crap like that. And Hollywood/Media does the same thing with Trump.
So now we see in the political arena a man who says what he is thinking. I find that refreshing.
Just like almost every movie and TV featuring a character like that TOLD us we would! This is "Dave", "Bullworth", "Man of the Year", "Head of State", "King Ralph" and every other such film come to life...but because it turns out that regular people don't hold with Hollywood intelligentsia's same talking points, they HATE IT. Meryl Streep and Joss Whedon and all the rest are the stuffy old farts who hate the bold, frank & straight-talking outsider.

I don't care if Trump deputizes the Klan or outlaws Spanish; Rocket Man is worth it.
