I do wonder sometimes why Americans build wooden houses

Seems strange in a hurricane prone area like Florida. From what I gather, it may be because of labor costs.
I suppose stone houses wouldn't fare much better in a flood, though. And the cost of fixing a flooded stone house might be higher than building a new wooden house.
So we got a little rain in Texas this week

Incredibly cheap and quick to build. Wood, unlike stone, quite literally grows on trees.
