At least, any meaningful disparity. A difference of a few hundred pounds in upper body weight strength matters a lot when a human man is fighting a human woman. It doesn't matter at all when either is fighting an alien that can pick up thousands of pounds like you pick up a bag of cat litter.
And I agree with you re: fantasy. If superpowers are a thing, limiting female superheroes to be physically weaker than their male counterparts is like insisting the Flash be black because most of the current world records for sprinting are held by Africans.
I think the current Flash is black, actually, but i'm pretty sure it's not for that reason.
