The problem with this sort of feel good white guilt thinking is it is dumb. And dumb is the nice word for it. All imposing an energy tax on the west is going to do drive more industry to the parts of the world that are all heavy polluters and have little regard for the environment. It takes special kind of naïve to handicap the west as some of amends for being dominate in the belief that it will be a better world is China and India become dominate.

Worse yet it does nothing to actually reduce the carbon in the atmosphere since you didn't actually reduce only shifted it.
