It felt like such little payoff for staying devoted to such a terrible storyline MrFarstrider Send a noteboard - 31/05/2017 12:33:43 AM

I'm going to assume you're referring to Elaida splitting the White Tower and the resulting build-up of armies on both sides. At first, it seemed like an interesting storyline and something that should be fitting leading up to the Dark One's release and the return of the Dragon Reborn.

Established monarchies being overthrown everywhere, riots throughout Randland, the Seanchan returning: it only made sense that Tar Valon would have its own catastrophe to deal with at a critical time. I could totally get behind it, and was looking forward to the resulting complexity it would at to the story.

But then the rogue Aes Sedai set up their camp and sat there, and sat there, and sat there... it became hard not to skip chapters that shifted the book back to them. But I stayed faithful and said this is surely leading to something huge in the book. They finally start moving back to Tar Valon and then... I guess we're not fighting anymore because there are Seanchan and Black Ajah about.

It just left me wondering why we went on this round-about journey if it didn't progress the plot in a meaningful way and made the terribly painful chapters all the more worthless.

The internecine warfare in the White Tower should have taken up about one fifth the size it did. *NM* - 30/05/2017 06:01:47 AM 518 Views

Yeah, but Rand being whiny did give us the best scene in the series, IMHO. - 30/05/2017 08:27:54 PM 846 Views

Most plotlines involving Egwene after book three or so. And yeah, much of Perrin's storyline. - 30/05/2017 07:15:26 PM 882 Views
