With four episodes now having aired, my reaction so far is "meh." Particularly after episode 4 which was all backstory for Laura Moon that wasn't in the book at all but was invented for TV. Deviations from the book tend to irritate me in general. More so the better I liked the book(s). This backstory, while well done, departed so much from the novel's narrative that it makes me wonder how they will reconcile differences that are important later in the story.
It also seems that the critics like this adaptation a lot more than I do, which is relatively meaningless unless I have lousy taste. So it made me wonder, is anyone else here watching? Are you impressed or as underwhelmed as me? I bought the Starz package from my cable provider to watch this show. Right now I'm questioning the decision.
I know others liked knowing the back story but I thought it could have been done in way less time while still advancing the plot and showing more of the world. Though minutes 34-38 were interesting/good.
To me, this was the least interesting episode so far. I had to force myself to watch it.
