I regret to say that I did, in fact, read Orientalism. It is one of the few books I have been tempted to burn rather than keep, though I instead just banished it to a box in the basement. The only other book that comes to mind in that category, by the way, is a Russian-language book my ex-wife bought back in 2002 as a present for me because it was "popular" then, which essentially said the whole thing was a plot by the Jews (in fairness to her, she hadn't read the book when she got it and thought I'd find the perspective interesting since people were talking about it). That book is probably in the same box as Orientalism. I do also believe that someone gave me an Andrea Dworkin book as a joke present back in the 1990s, and I just threw it away.
