Quickpoll for 13th January 2011

When I go to a bookstore I:

Choose a book based on the blurb (24.56% - 28 votes)
Choose a book based on the cover (5.26% - 6 votes)
Choose a book based on recommendations (31.58% - 36 votes)
 Choose a book on a whim (10.53% - 12 votes)
Prowl the aisles looking for the elusive person who likes fantasy as much as you do (7.89% - 9 votes)
 Other (20.18% - 23 votes)
1st vote
For a brief time my vote was the only and made it 100% but by the time I got in here to make this comment another vote knocked it down to 50%
Other
I very rarely buy books. If I do go to a bookstore, it is because there is something specific that I want or need, so I will just go in and get it.

When I'm choosing books based on blurbs, covers, recommendations, or whims, I do so at libraries instead of bookstores.
all of the above *NM*
Other
Buy the book I went there to buy.
Usually I prowl looking for titles that pop out at me.
Then I look at the cover art to see if it's sci-fi or fantasy.

I follow that up with reading the blurb.

If all that checks out I buy it.
Little bit of it all *NM*
It was hard to choose from those. I have done all of them. All though the prowling was not really
intentional. But if I see a person reading fantasy or sci-fi I will often strike up a conversation unless they look like there are at a really gripping part of the book in which case I understand and leave them alone to find out what is going to happen.
Other: Hit the cafe first then do all the above except prowling.
I did get prowled @ though... by a dude. Awkward!!!!!!
Book...what? I shop online.
I haven't been into a physical bookstore in at least 3 years.
all of the above depending on my mood. *NM*
Go to the shop, look around until I see something interesting, read the first bit while enjoying a
coffee, buy it if it was interesting enough.
Tom-that's just sad. Get out man *NM*
Other
I choose based on what I want. If there's nothing I want I choose on a whim or sometimes based on the cover or author. :reading:
Other
Prowl the aislse looking for something amazing and leave empty handed. I simply cant buy a book unless 5 people I trust have told me its good.
All of the above
Plus look at the price and think "This would be so much cheaper at Amazon."
I usually buy fiction online
When I am in a bookstore, I rarely buy anything except for non-fiction.
