Romance Novels. gross. *NM*
Classics.
I find the language too difficult to grasp. Of course, hopefully this will change over time.
Romance
I remember accidentally reading a romance novel. It was in the sci-fi/fantasy section and even had a fantasy cover depicting some Arthurianesque setting. 1/3 of the thru and hello! Penis and Vagina were graphically introduced. Multiple times. lol
The question is, did I finish it? ' />

Chose "other", but really wanted a "no" option. *NM*
Other
Boring Fiction, Poorly Written Fiction... are those genres?
Romance
I too have also accidently read a romance novel that was disguised as sci-fi/fantasy.
I voted for mystery though because I do not like mystery novels of, as I like to call it, the "middle-aged lady" variety. Agatha Christie is cool though.

Until recently, I would have said romance as well
But I picked that for Rebekah's 'request something you wouldn't normally read' thread on the Books board not too long ago. Because I read and actually enjoyed the Jane Austen novel that was recommended to me, I can no longer say that I dislike or avoid the genre as a whole.
No no, Jane Austen is not romance
Not the kind I'm thinking about anyway.
If it's the same as what Bookwyrm mentioned
than you're thinking of erotica. I would say that that is not romance.
I would have chosen several genres - Westerns, most crime/thrillers, spy novels, most mysteries.
I think when it comes down to it, I don't like genre fiction at all other than fantasy and occasionally sci-fi.
I'm mostly with Tom.
But I voted for westerns. I've never liked them. The closest I've gotten to reading westerns is Stephen King's The Dark Tower series.
"Legal thrillers"
I tried some Grisham novels, but they were kinda tough to get through
The question implies that
I like and read all kinds of fiction as long as it is well written.
I will say though that I prefer sci-fi as a visual experience, ie on TV or the movies than in book form.

There needs to be a *NM*
Yeah Romance
I am not sure I'd read a Western book, but there are many great films, and it was fiction in general, so yeah.
Romance *NM*
All minus the good ones
I'm with Tom also. If I read fiction, it's fantasy and sometimes science fiction.
I've never even read a western but the idea of a western story sounds really bad to me so that's the one that I voted for.

Romance, horror *NM*
Non-Fiction *NM*
Why isn't there a 'Easterns' genre?
I need to create one
Crime *NM*
another vote against romance
... Well, there was one occasion over ten years ago:
A friend of mine in school vehemently protested me calling her book a "dirty little sex novel," so I took it out of her hands, opened it to a random page, and started reading out loud. The classroom burst into giggles as only a room full of sixteen-year-olds can (I guess it was more like thirteen years ago...) as I read from her book what I can only describe as soft porn.
She never gave up and continued to protest my calling of her collection "dirty little sex novels." Silly thing.
