Actually an N=30 is sufficient to produce a normal curve and minimize error. everynametaken Send a noteboard - 03/04/2010 05:26:27 AM
I am wholly convinced that games as a medium aid learning and help children develop the skills and mindset of wanting to learn, but I'm really too lazy to argue that or back up my opinion at the moment, so take it with a grain of salt.

I am also wholly convinced that learning and academic achievement are not nearly as related as many people think.

I am also wholly convinced that yes, any kid that is allowed to utterly abandon themselves to any form of entertainment - or anything in general - will suffer academically. All things in moderation. Even academics.

Also, depending on the probability used in the hypothesis test and the effect size the power of the study may be large. Large sample sizes are not necessarily needed in statistical testing. The minimal needed sample size of 30 is based on the Central Limit Theorem.

P.S. I hope I don't come across as a dick here, I'm not lecturing or patronizing you, but I see sample size used a lot as a reason to discount results when it shouldn't be. :)
