And there's no AI tactic for "Flanking."
If you're playing on the PC, it should be fine. You get a lot more control there. In my experience, trying to simultaneously micromanage the rogue and your mage/s is extremely difficult on the console.
In my first playthrough, I didn't even have a rogue. It was me (a mage), another mage (Morrigan), and then two fighters (generally Sten and Shale). It wasn't really that big a deal.
