Check out the HL2 "Minerva: Metastasis" mod by Adam Foster (since hired by Valve to work on Ep3)
It's a single-player HL2 mod that displays the author's exceptional grasp of the Source Engine and level design. Its tone is distinctly "Half-Lifey," though its narrative is decidedly old school. All of your direct information is delivered to you via on-screen text transmissions, thanks to whoever's pulling the strings. (you'll find out) While it uses HL2 content for its content and look, it will feel both foreign and familiar. Sure, you've seen Combine tech and Man-Hacks before, but the design of the island's full base boasts impressive depth and forethought. Throw in an atmospheric, community-made soundtrack that smacks of Valve quality, and you have the best HL2 mod you've never played.
IIRC, it clocks in around 4 hours for those who plow through in a single sitting. Maybe longer, though... it's been a while.

This mod is a bit more Portal-esque, and features completely puzzle-driven combat. That may sound like a bold claim, but it's true. See for yourself. I think it's around 3 hours to complete, depending on how long it takes to figure puzzles out.
Lastly: Black Mesa Source

It's actually a remake of the first Half-Life, but fully revamped and on the Source Engine. They missed their 2009 release window, but claim it's going to release "soon." I've been looking forward to this for quite some time, but I'd understand if you're Half-Lifed out after playing through the complete series so far. Still, doesn't that trailer make your nostalgia salivate?

Black Mesa Source I'm eagerly anticipating. R&D looks cool too.
Thanks!

Indeed, I marry them in their unlawful bed, with an open heart I affirm the true right of any man and woman to their dark slobbering nights which are rare enough, and against which too many laws conspire.

Finished the Half-life series, craving more.

Maybe I should return to Deus Ex. Fugliest game I've ever played, though. *NM*
