If your problem is video card related, you could probably get away with just changing the video card, and have a computer which will last you for a while... if you have a decent amount of RAM, and a non lousy processor.
What I am trying to say is that as long as your current setup is adequate for what gaming you do, you shouldn't pay the kind of money that is involved in getting a proper gaming rig, and if it isn't... well, clearly it is, considering you are asking on an online forum.
