You could do it, say with an ogre, or some other big team.
Or you could just make it obvious that something is going on with the rock. Maybe, all of the blood that was spilled on it has been sucked "into" the rock? Every time something is killed on or near it, it glows momentarily? If anyone casts a spell near the rock, the spell is slightly boosted just by being near the stone?
