they invested so much in building the world and the mythos surrounding the world. This was almost one of their biggest issues. In the first FF13, there was so much reading (in the catalogue in the menu) that it disrupted the flow of the game.
The other major issue with the first game was that it was such an "American" RPG. Constant button mashing...like it so wished it was a FPS. Meanwhile, I'd love to have a traditional Japanese RPG that was a nice open world...with great story and not insane sidequests. That would be great. Instead, I get three FF games which are just shy of a Street Fighter game. nods
