We have all played the Zombie-style games. Left 4 Dead, Dead Rising, Resident Evil...

This is something else. This is something different. Sure, at its heart, it is your basic kill the zombie game in a standard 3rd person perspective. But this game has so much more...so much more.

It starts off like many other zombie games. Main protagonist beset by ravenous undead cannibals. He fights them off, finds some other survivors...no one knows what is going on. You go find some supplies, get back to them and they are all dead. You take off again, in search of...anyone. You find another group, but you are an outsider...you have to pay your "rent." So you go out and scavenge, trying your best not to alert any hordes in the area.
And then the game begins in proper. Unlike other games, you don't have one protagonist, you have many. In fact, you have as many as you can recruit and gain the their trust. You must sneak, scavenge, scour. You have to survive long enough to find a way out. Your guns malfunction, your weapons and vehicles break. Your characters get weary and tired and you have to switch to others so they can rest. You have to try and keep everything maintained....and your resources are limited. This is you...on the raggedy edge. How long can you last?

This game is fantastic and severely underpriced at 20 bucks. Mainly an over the shoulder, 3rd, person action game. You start building a little community, setting up various outposts, trying to figure a way out of the area. Your resources are limited and you have to scavenge for parts and materials. You are very limited on what you can carry. So you might need a couple of trips.

At your outposts, you will build things to help you out, work benches so that you can maintain your equipment. As you wander around, you will encounter others. Sometimes alone, sometimes a group. The more people you get, the more people you have to feed. The more people you have to find food for...Everything in the game is limited. There are only a certain number of weapons, vehicles, food, materials.

The Zombie AI is actually pretty intelligent. They respond to noises, but have very limited vision. It is possible to lose a zombie once you alert them by hiding and staying quiet. They mostly wander around in small groups, some stragglers. But there are large hordes (hordes get bigger as the game goes on). Then there are FREAK zombies. For instance, there is a big fat one that is extremely hard to kill, screamers (guess what they do), and others.

All in all, this is a fantastic game that comes pretty damn close to how a zombie apocalypse would be...no one is a super hero, everyone is just trying to survive...and if you mess up...well...just hope the next person is a good shot.

Love this game. 9/10 Headshots!

Castle: This is so weird. I dressed up as him for Halloween.

Beckett: Me too.

~When Castle and Beckett met Gene Simmons.
