I'm pretty much meh on the whole thing. I just can't summon up enough whatever to be excited. I looked at the video/read the article a few days after it was made public, and I was still meh. No excitement what-so-ever.
Better graphics? shrug Social game features? boo "Cornerstone of the home entertainment hub" yawn I just can't care. Don't get me wrong, I love Sony. I've had all three of their Play Stations...and in fact, when my 1st Gen PS3 died (just last month), I just went right back out and got another one. No questions asked. My TV is Sony (and I love it dearly).
But the PS4? I didn't see anything that got me excited. They said it would link up with the Vita (which I don't own) or some such...so I can take my gaming with me anywhere? Uh...guys? I have a job. They said that it would help me be social? Uh...guys? I have human interaction to be social. I don't even have a Facebook. Why would I care about social features? They said that it would assist with Netflix or direct-download/stream TV & movies. Uh...guys? I have cable for live TV. I DVR anything/everything I want.
You want to make me excited? Have complete backwards compatability...PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. Obviously have ability to play Blu-ray disks. Have some titles that continue to push the borders between games & movies (Uncharted comes to mind). And would it kill someone to create an huge RPG (one player...I don't want to adventure with other humans) that's open world and made for grown-ups? X-box Kinnect & Wii stuff is all fine and good when you're in the mood, but I hardly want to be waving my arms around in the 45 minutes I have to game...and I certainly don't want my home theater looking at me all the time. Let's not give Skynet any more easy layups.
