I don't want to defend a street with barricades. I want to be on my own and assassinate people like in the first two games.
I also find Istanbul lacks the depth and versatility of Jerusalem. I'd prefer to travel.

you have yet to finish the external subject 16 plotline ... otherwise, just move right on to AC3 ... it'll remove all the problems you listed and give you a much freer world to explore ... plus they revamped the quick travel aspects alot, so it's easier to jump to somewhere in a hurry.
So only play out the rest of Revelations if you need to get the Desmond external plotline and move on to AC3 post-haste.
