No ... there is no manual save. Roonas Send a noteboard - 28/05/2012 07:51:20 AM
I'm not enthralled. I'd be irritated if I paid for the game, but I "paid for it" with my annual pass to WoW.

But, considering that my gaming time amounts to a few hours at best here and there, it's not the end of my world.

However, the tendency for the game to NOT SAVE at the point I'm at when I exit the game (yet not having any ability to manually save), is starting to SEVERELY IRRITATE ME.

If anyone knows if there is a manual save some where, or...something so that I don't have to redo half a dungeon because my pager goes off and I have to go, I'd really appreciate it!

It's checkpoint based only, so if you have not recently seen the "Checkpoint reached" blurb come up then you are not "saved" till you reach a new one. This does strike me also as a major flaw in Blizz's concept, but the whole "online only" thing throws me for a loop as well. I would've hoped it was more akin to StarCraft's "sign on once a month" model ... but apparently they didn't need the baby with this particular bit of bath-water.

Blizz's model of "preventing pirating and unlicensed use of their software" has begun to strip me of my endearment towards their brutal bowl-over-the-consumer style. After my issues with WoW, as well as Starcraft ... Diablo III was supposed to remind me of what's right with Blizzard, but all it's done has remind me how much I really believe I could happily go on playing DII and the old games from Warcraft/Starcraft and just say screw buying anything new from Blizzard.

Guess I'll just wait to see how they'll screw with me when Heart of the Swarm gets released and decide from there ...

So, I'm curious, is there any gameplay justification for always-online? - 16/05/2012 02:34:55 PM 907 Views
As far as I know it's just an anti-piracy measure. *NM* - 16/05/2012 03:17:06 PM 541 Views
