I am glad that at least one person here is with me on this.

I found the world to feel more real than previous ones, I liked the focus on a relatively minor event compared to "WE HAVE TO SAVE THE WORLD," I thought (Vaan and Penelo aside, since they were dead weight who didn't really add anything) the characters were interesting, and I think the translation and voice acting were fantastic. Like really, really fantastic.
Word up on all accounts. Also, sweet on the iambic pentameter. I didn't pick that up, either, and it is very neat.
All these people hating on the game have me unable to resist playing the inflammatory condescension card. My guess is motherfuckers would all crap on Shakespeare in favor of Transformers. Video games will never move forward if everyone bitches and moans about how boring FFXII is and clamors for more crap like... whatever past ones they're clamoring for.

So being a FF fan and never having played FF 12...

You're not alone- the characters just didn't click for me, nor did the plot

Videogame stories suck the big one, with VERY few exceptions.

I will have to disagree with this...

Exactly. When I think story here, I think of the individual stories as well as the whole.

Still, it's good for a videogame story.

I agree, with caveat.

New games do not feature the storytelling prowess of good TV, films, or novels.

I disagree. Maybe you're playing the wrong games. *NM*
