well considering the cost of a normal pair of vision correction glasses and nice pairs of sunglasses

that's not too bad a price. Keep in mind, there are some people who make a LIVING playing games in competitions. For them, those tiny little gains in contrast, lack of glare, etc...etc... could mean the difference between a paltry 2nd or 3rd price, and a nice chunk of change for a 1st prize. With that consideration, 80 bucks isn't too much to drop at all!
And yah...even just "normal" glasses or a good pair of sunglasses will cost way more than that (if you shop at stores, anyways. I can get 2 pairs of nice prescription glasses for less than 40 bucks online...)

I've met people who swear by glasses that tint out "harsh", "intense" monitor light

I wonder if they're basically the "anti-glare" film+tint for people who normally don't wear glasses. *NM*
