I felt like that was the whole goal of 4E...and I think that goal was accomplished.

I felt like they were trying to make the system more inutitive and appealing to people who were either unfamiliar, or were more used to computer gaming progams like WoW. my boyfriend picked up 4E a lot easier than we did when we taught him to play DnD, because were used to the older editions (we grew up learning 2E and 3E), and he had been playing WoW. And he really enjoyed the experience, and, because we had less to teach him, we were able to go far further in a scenario than we anticipated.
As someone used to the older systems, I wasn't a huge fan of 4E for my own use. In general, I feel like a lot of the spirit has gone out of the game. But it was good for giving people that taste that gets them wanting more.

4th Edition has been a commercial failure. 5th Edition wasn't originally due for several years yet.

No, the future of D&D has resided with Pathfinder for a while. *NM*

A fine example of a mechanic that seems lifted whole sale from GURPS 3rd ed.
