FF12 was to me the biggest FF letdown ever. There was practicaly no story, and what there was, was spread thin over countless hours of back and forth travelling. The whole gambit thing was a letdown too. There was absolutely no need to use it since the game is fully playable without it. There is also no need to give deep thought into what character to use in the party since every character is basically evenly strong later on in the game.
Square Enix acknowledged that fans were not satisfied with the story.
I played it, finished it, and sold it.
Though keeping all my other FF:s
Any thoughts?

You're not alone- the characters just didn't click for me, nor did the plot

Videogame stories suck the big one, with VERY few exceptions.

I will have to disagree with this...

Exactly. When I think story here, I think of the individual stories as well as the whole.

Still, it's good for a videogame story.

I agree, with caveat.

New games do not feature the storytelling prowess of good TV, films, or novels.

I disagree. Maybe you're playing the wrong games. *NM*
