I, uh, don't have a link for you. Google it, it's easy.
Apparently Blizzard has unveiled the upcoming fourth expansion to World of Warcraft, Mists of Pandaria. This has been rumoured to be the case for some time, but a sizeable portion of fans felt it must be a joke or some other type of product, because Pandarens — humanoid panda bears — were only mentioned in the game's lore in a jokey connection with Brewfest, the in-game holiday where everyone gets drunk.
But nope, they're real, and so is their China-styled continent, Pandaria, revealed to the world at large for the first time and apparently to be fought over by the Horde and Alliance. Some people will surely find this ridiculous, but you must remember that this is a world with humanoid cows, humanoid walruses, and humanoid wolverines.
I haven't heard yet what the big threat will be. Perhaps Azshara and the naga will have their day? One can hope. The level cap will be increased to 90 and a new class, the Monk, will be added. The Monk will be the very first class with talent trees covering all three roles — damage dealer, tank, and healer.
In related news, they announced a new deal intended to increase their flagging subscription rates. Anyone who signs up to WoW for a full one-year subscription period will receive a free copy of Diablo 3, in digital format, available on launch day. That person will also receive a Diablo-themed flying mount in WoW, and will be guaranteed placement in the Mists of Pandaria beta. If you're someone who plays WoW already, plans to get Diablo 3 anyway, and can afford to put out the money up front, this is a very good deal.
What are your thoughts on any of this? Also, if you are not at a work computer and have access to better information than me, by all means share it!
